The following instructions are for Win 95/98/XP users.
  1. From My Computer, select the Control Panel folder. Choose Network.
  2. Make sure that TCP/IP and Dial-Up Adapter are installed. If not, they can be installed from your Windows95 disks.
  3. Click OK to exit.
  4. From My Computer, select the Dial-Up Networking folder.
  5. Click the Make New Connection icon. Type American University for the name of the computer.
  6. Make sure that you verify that your modem type is configured under the Configure button.
  7. Enter the phone number (202) 237-5353 and click Next.
  8. Click Finish.
  9. Highlight the new icon that you created.
  10. Choose Properties from the File menu.
  11. Click the Server Type button.
  12. Select PPP for the Type of Dial-Up Server.
  13. Under Advanced Options, put an X in the following boxes:
    • Log on to network
    • Enable software compression
    • There should be no X in require encrypted password.
  14. Under Allowed Network Protocols, put an X in the following boxes:
    • TCP/IP
    • There should be no X in NetBEUI or IPX/SPX Compatible.
  15. Click TCP/IP Settings.
    • Put an X to select Server Assigned IP Address.
    • Select Specify Name Server Addresses. Enter 147.9.1.9 as the Primary DNS.
    • Turn off Use IP Header Compression.
    • Put an X to select Use Default Gateway on Remote Network.
  16. Click OK.
  17. Double-click the AU icon.
  18. Enter your EagleNet user name and password for authentication.
  19. You should Connect at the speed of your modem (but a maximum of 56k).
